Sugar-beet

Sugar-beet needs high levels of nitrogen and even much higher (+80%) levels of potassium. Magnesium and iron supply should be high too. Boron deficiency causes beet hollowness. Sugar-beet is one of the most salinity-resistant crops. It grows best on slightly acid to neutral soils (pH = 5.8-7.0) of loose structure. It prefers a temperate climate, with sufficient precipitation or irrigation during the growth period, up to the ripening phase. Best sugar-beet mineral nutrition regime includes the use of CRFs, fertigation with fully-soluble fertilizers, and foliar feeding.
